Copy-ready opt-in, HELP, and STOP language for every place a phone number enters PrintClose™, plus what to log and what carriers check during A2P vetting. This is an internal build reference, not a page to publish.
01 Where Consent Gets Collected
Every place a phone number enters PrintClose™ needs consent language attached to it. There are four, and each needs slightly different wording.
Your website form or quote widget — the checkbox and disclosure below the field.
The missed-call text-back — the caller initiated contact, so the first reply should identify you and set expectations.
In person or over the phone — a script plus a logged record.
A list you already have — the hardest case. See the Acceptable Use Policy before texting an old list.
Use these as a starting point
These are drafts modeled on common carrier requirements, not legal advice. Have your attorney review the exact wording before you put it live, and check it against your messaging provider's current requirements, which change.
02 Web Form Opt-In
Checkbox label, unchecked by default
☐ Text me about my order and occasional offers from [Shop Name].
The checkbox must not be pre-checked, and submitting the form must be possible without it.
Disclosure directly beneath the checkbox
By checking this box you agree to receive SMS from [Shop Name] at the number provided, including order updates and marketing. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Msg & data rates may apply. Msg frequency varies. Reply HELP for help or STOP to cancel. See our Terms and Privacy Policy.
Link "Terms" and "Privacy Policy" to real, live pages on the shop's own domain. Carriers check that these links resolve.
03 Quote Widget Opt-In
Above the submit button
☐ Text me my quote and updates about this job.
☐ Also text me occasional offers and promotions.
Two separate boxes. Transactional and marketing consent are different things, and separating them is both safer and better for deliverability.
Disclosure
By opting in you agree to receive SMS from [Shop Name] at the number provided. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Msg & data rates may apply. Msg frequency varies. Reply HELP for help or STOP to cancel.
Keep this visible on the form, not hidden behind a link or a tooltip.
04 In-Person & Phone
Counter or phone script
"Want me to text you when the order's ready? I can also send you a heads-up when we run specials. You can reply STOP any time to turn it off."
Log it the moment they say yes: date, time, who took it, and which of the two things they agreed to. A verbal yes with no record is not much of a defense.
What to write in the record
Consent captured: 2026-09-15 14:22 | Channel: in person, front counter | Taken by: [name] | Scope: order updates + promotions | Wording used: counter script v1
PrintClose™ stores this on the Contact record. Fill it in at the time, not later.
05 Double Opt-In Confirmation
First message after a web opt-in
[Shop Name]: You're subscribed to order updates and offers. Msg & data rates may apply. Msg frequency varies. Reply HELP for help, STOP to cancel.
Sending a confirmation as the first message is the strongest consent record you can build, and several carriers expect it for marketing campaigns.
06 HELP Reply
Automatic response to HELP
[Shop Name]: For help, call [phone] or email [email]. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel.
Required. PrintClose™ sends this automatically, but the business name, phone, and email come from your account settings, so fill them in.
07 STOP Confirmation
Automatic response to STOP
[Shop Name]: You've been unsubscribed and won't receive further messages. Reply START to resubscribe.
Required, and it must be the last message that number receives. PrintClose™ handles this and adds the number to your suppression list automatically.
08 Your SMS Terms Page
Carriers look for a page on the sending business's own domain that states the messaging program terms. If a shop has no website, the hosted quote page we generate for them includes one.
It should cover: who is sending, what kinds of messages, message frequency, that message and data rates may apply, how to get help, how to opt out, a link to the privacy policy, and a statement that opt-in data is not shared with third parties for marketing.
Build this into onboarding
Generate a member's SMS terms page automatically from their account settings during setup. It removes a step members will otherwise skip, and skipping it is a common cause of A2P registration rejection.
09 What to Log Every Time
For each Contact, store the following alongside the record. This is what you hand over if a complaint ever arrives.
Date and time of consent, with time zone.
Channel and source, for example the URL of the form, or "front counter".
IP address and user agent for web opt-ins.
The exact wording the person agreed to, or a version identifier pointing to it.
Scope: transactional only, marketing, or both.
Any later opt-out, with date, time, and channel.
Keep the wording versioned. If you change the disclosure, old records should still point at the language that was actually shown.
10 What Carriers Check
During A2P 10DLC vetting, and again if a campaign gets flagged, reviewers commonly look for:
A live opt-in form matching the sample opt-in language submitted, reachable at a working URL.
A privacy policy on the same domain stating that mobile opt-in data is not shared with third parties for marketing.
Terms that describe the messaging program, frequency, and rates.
Sample messages that match the declared use case.
A legal business name and tax identification number that match public records exactly.
The most common rejection
A mismatch between the legal entity name on the registration and the name on the tax record. Submit exactly what appears on your formation and IRS documents, punctuation and suffix included.
