This Policy covers what you can and cannot do with PrintClose™, with most of it focused on messaging. PrintClose™ sends texts on your behalf through shared carrier infrastructure, so one account messaging people who never agreed to hear from it can cause problems for every shop on the platform. These rules keep you compliant and keep the platform healthy.
01 Purpose & Scope
This Acceptable Use Policy (the "Policy") governs how you may use PrintClose™. It is part of the Terms of Service, and violating it is a breach of those Terms.
This Policy exists for a practical reason. PrintClose™ sends messages on behalf of many print shops through shared carrier infrastructure. One account sending to people who never agreed to hear from it can get messages filtered, sending identities blocked, or registrations revoked, for that account and potentially for others. The rules below protect you, your customers, and every other shop on the platform.
This Policy applies to you, your employees, your contractors, and anyone using your account.
02 Consent Is Your Obligation
You are the sender of every message that goes out from your account. PrintClose™ provides the tooling. You decide who is contacted and what is sent.
You represent and warrant that, for every Contact you upload or message, you have obtained and maintain records of consent sufficient under all applicable laws and regulations, including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, the CAN-SPAM Act, state telemarketing and consumer protection statutes, and applicable carrier and industry requirements including CTIA guidelines and the A2P 10DLC framework.
We do not verify your consent records. We do not review your message content before it sends. When you attest at import that you have the required consent, we rely on that attestation. If a claim, complaint, carrier inquiry, or regulatory inquiry arises from your messaging, you are responsible for it and you indemnify us under the Terms of Service.
03 How to Collect Valid Consent
This is guidance, not legal advice, and it is not a substitute for talking to your own attorney. As a practical baseline, consent is strongest when it is express, specific, documented, and recent.
Be explicit. The person should knowingly agree to receive text messages from your business by name, not agree to something else and receive texts as a side effect.
Disclose at the point of collection. State the purpose of the messages, that message and data rates may apply, that frequency varies, and how to opt out. Link your terms and privacy policy.
Never pre-check the box. Consent should be an affirmative action the person takes.
Keep consent separate from purchase. Do not make agreeing to marketing messages a condition of buying.
Keep the record. Store the date, time, source, IP address or channel, and exact wording the person agreed to. Retain it for at least the period required by law.
Watch the age of the list. A phone number collected years ago with no contact since is a weak basis for a marketing text. Consider warming it through channels where consent is clearer.
A note on reactivation campaigns
Waking up past customers is one of the most valuable things PrintClose™ does, and it is also where members get themselves into trouble. A past transaction is not automatically consent to receive marketing text messages. Before you run a reactivation campaign over SMS, confirm with your attorney that your consent basis holds for the list you are using. Email is often the safer channel for an older list.
04 Prohibited Lists
You may not upload or message contacts from any of the following sources:
Purchased, rented, leased, or licensed lists.
Scraped, harvested, or automatically collected numbers or addresses.
Appended lists, where phone numbers were matched to names or emails by a third-party data provider.
Lists obtained from another business, including a business you acquired, unless consent transferred lawfully and you can document it.
Directories, trade show attendee lists, or membership rosters, unless each person expressly agreed to receive messages from your business.
Any number on an applicable do-not-call list where contacting it is prohibited.
Any Contact who has previously opted out, anywhere, through any channel.
05 Prohibited Content
Carriers prohibit certain content categories outright. Messages containing them will be blocked and can put your registration at risk. You may not send content relating to:
Sex, adult, or sexually explicit material.
Hate speech, harassment, threats, or content promoting violence or discrimination.
Alcohol, firearms, ammunition, tobacco, vaping, or cannabis and CBD products, including apparel promoting them where carrier rules treat it as such.
Illegal substances or illegal activity of any kind.
High-risk financial services, payday or short-term loans, debt collection or relief, credit repair, or get-rich-quick offers.
Gambling, sweepstakes, or lotteries.
Third-party lead generation or affiliate marketing on behalf of other businesses.
Phishing, malware, fraudulent, deceptive, or misleading claims.
Print shops, read this one twice
If you decorate apparel for a brewery, distillery, gun range, smoke shop, or dispensary, messages about that work can trip carrier content filters even though your own business is entirely lawful. Keep those conversations off SMS, or talk to us before you set up a campaign, so we can help you structure it.
06 Prohibited Messaging Practices
Sending outside the hours permitted by applicable law for the recipient's time zone.
Sending at a frequency that is excessive, harassing, or materially different from what the recipient agreed to.
Snowshoeing, which means spreading similar messages across many numbers or identities to evade filtering.
Number cycling or rotating sending identities to avoid opt-outs, complaints, or blocks.
Using URL shorteners that are shared or public, which carriers commonly block. Use your own branded domain.
Deliberately misspelling words or inserting characters to evade content filtering.
Sending to numbers you know or suspect to be disconnected, reassigned, or belonging to someone other than the person who gave consent.
Using the Service to send on behalf of another business, or reselling access to your account.
07 Opt-Outs & Suppression
PrintClose™ processes standard opt-out keywords automatically, including STOP, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, and QUIT, and responds to HELP. When a Contact opts out, they are added to a suppression list for your account and will not receive further messages through the Service.
Your obligations
Never remove, disable, or attempt to bypass opt-out handling.
Honor opt-outs received through any other channel, including a phone call, an email, a reply worded differently, or someone telling you in person. Add them to your suppression list.
Never re-add a suppressed Contact without new, documented consent given after the opt-out.
Never use a second sending identity, a second account, or another platform to reach someone who opted out.
Suppression records are retained indefinitely. Deleting them would allow a person who opted out to be contacted again, so we do not delete them on request.
08 Review Requests
PrintClose™ sends every customer the same review request with the same link. You may not use the Service, or configure it, to do any of the following:
Screen, gate, filter, or suppress reviews based on a customer's anticipated or expressed rating.
Route satisfied customers to a public review platform while diverting dissatisfied customers to a private form instead.
Offer money, discounts, or other compensation in exchange for a review where prohibited by the review platform or by law, or without disclosing it where disclosure is required.
Write, solicit, or publish reviews that are fake, from people who were not customers, or otherwise deceptive.
Review gating may violate the policies of review platforms and the Federal Trade Commission's rule on consumer reviews and testimonials. We do not build it and will not support attempts to implement it.
Do this instead
Use the service recovery flow. Every customer gets the same request, and anyone who signals dissatisfaction afterward is routed to you for a personal follow-up. Happy customers still leave public reviews, unhappy ones still get a phone call, and your listing stays safe.
09 Identifying Yourself
Identify your business by name in your messages, particularly the first message in a conversation.
Use only sending identities, phone numbers, domains, and branding that belong to your business and that you are authorized to use.
Provide accurate business information during carrier registration. Misrepresenting your business to carriers can result in registration revocation and is a breach of these rules.
Make sure the recipient can reach a real person at your business.
10 General Platform Rules
You may not:
Use the Service for any unlawful, infringing, fraudulent, or harmful purpose.
Upload content that infringes intellectual property, violates privacy, or is defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.
Reverse engineer, decompile, scrape, or extract the source code or underlying structure of the Service, except where that restriction is prohibited by law.
Resell, sublicense, rent, or provide the Service to third parties as a standalone product.
Interfere with, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to the Service, its servers, or related systems.
Introduce malware, run automated attacks, or circumvent usage limits, security, or authentication.
Share account credentials outside your business, or use one account to operate multiple unrelated businesses.
Place unreasonable load on the Service, including through automated requests outside documented interfaces.
11 Monitoring & Enforcement
We monitor aggregate platform health signals, including delivery failures, complaint rates, opt-out rates, and carrier feedback. We do not routinely read your message content, but we may review an account when a signal, report, or inquiry warrants it.
What we may do
Contact you to understand and correct an issue.
Request your consent records for a specific campaign or Contact. You agree to provide them promptly.
Throttle, pause, or disable a campaign.
Suspend your account, immediately and without notice, where we reasonably believe your use presents a legal, regulatory, or carrier risk to you, to us, or to other members.
Terminate your account for repeated or serious violations.
Suspension for a violation does not entitle you to a refund. We may report unlawful activity to the appropriate authorities and cooperate with carrier and regulatory investigations.
12 Reporting Abuse
If you received a message you believe violates this Policy, or you want to stop receiving messages from a business using PrintClose™, email support@printclose.com.
Include the sending number and, if you can, a screenshot. We will suppress your number across that sending account and pass the report to the business. You can also reply STOP to any message to stop it immediately.
13 Changes
We may update this Policy as laws, carrier requirements, and industry standards change, and some of those changes arrive with little notice. We will update the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, give additional notice. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
